We are using the EdgeRight panels for a process somewhat different than edging. We are using them to block the roots from raising the sidewalk. We cut the roots below the surface and installed the panels at a level just below the sidewalk to impede the roots from growing under the sidewalk. Hope it works.

Cor-Ten Edging Repurposed as Sidewalk Root Barrier
Randy used Edge Right Hammer-In Landscape Edging in 6 inch, 16 gauge Cor-Ten steel as an underground root barrier. After cutting shallow tree roots, he installed the 2 ft straight strips just below the sidewalk to help prevent future lifting. A smart DIY adaptation to protect the walkway and nearby lawn.
