Cor-Ten Edging Conquers Hard Clay With Clean Curves

April 21, 2026Shared by Leslie

Leslie installed Edge Right 8 inch Cor-Ten hammer-in edging with a 90 degree corner to frame a concrete walkway. The steel drove 6 inches into hard clay and bent smoothly for gentle arcs, with the right angle finished using a tractor bucket and hand bending. Joining stakes were tricky due to opposing spike angles, but the finished border looks crisp and durable, and Leslie loves the result.

Great product. Very heavy metal that easily withstood driving it into 6" of hard clay. It was easy to bend gentle curves but the 90° bends were tough. I used the bucket on my tractor to hold the edging flat on the ground so I could bend it up, then finished the right angle by hand. It turned out better than I'd imagined it. The joining stakes were a challenge because each leg wanted to head in an opposite direction due to the opposing spike angles. It was definitely worth the effort, love the results.
