DIY fence-line rat barrier with Cor-Ten edging

June 1, 2025Shared by Michael

Michael installed 14 inch hammer-in Cor-Ten steel edging along a backyard fence to seal gaps by a concrete walkway and border his vegetable garden. Shipping arrived in multiple well packed boxes. He notes some no-dig sections required spade work through roots, but he appreciated the precut teeth, rolled top, and was able to angle-grind pieces around buried concrete posts for a snug, rodent deterring barrier.

It was overall a pleasant experience. Shipping was multiple packages but all were delivered and packed well. The no dig edging was not always no dig. I found that small tree roots would need a spade shovel even after pounding on the edging for awhile to try to break through. It was four times as expensive as if I went to my local metal distributor, but the precut teeth and rolled top were nice features I wouldn't get elsewhere. Used an angle grinder to cut the pieces to fit around buried concrete post bases. Hopefully this will deter the rats away from my garden and digging under my walkway this year.
