DIY 190 foot Cor-Ten edging transformation

March 12, 2025Shared by Jeff

Jeff installed roughly 190 feet of Edge Right hammer-in Cor-Ten steel edging around mulch beds, walkways, and a backyard deck, using 6 inch and 8 inch heights. He praised the thick gauge and safe rolled top, found installation easier after precutting with a spade, and made tight 90 degree bends with a 2x4 without tearing or discoloration. He used few corner clips and appreciated the easy return process with a prepaid FedEx label.

I was really on the fence about spending a decent amount of money on 200 feet of edging. I’m glad I went with Edge Right vs the metal edging at big box stores. When it arrived, I was impressed with the thickness and the rolled upper edge. Installation was easy but it was even easier in the spots that I precut with a spade. I went through multiple pieces of wood and one hammer during installation. Bending it was easy and I didn’t need to use many of the corner clips. For 90 degree bends I placed a 2x4 across the metal where I wanted the bend, put a knee on either side of the 2x4, and pulled towards me. I didn’t have any issues with the metal tearing or discoloring during these tight bends. For gentle bends, I simply bent it over my knee. I was able to get approximately 190 feet installed in about 9 hours. Since I didn’t use most of the corner clips, Edge Right allowed me to return them and included a FedEx return label. Overall, I’d recommend Edge Right. I am curious to see what they look like next year and how well they stay in place.
